At Tailor & Chess, every garment I create carries a piece of my craft, my skill, and my heart. Tailoring isn’t just about stitching seams — it’s about shaping confidence, crafting identity, and creating clothing that feels truly personal to the wearer. For that reason, I’ve made an important change to improve your experience: Tailor & Chess is now operating primarily by appointment only, with walk-ins available only on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM.

I want to share exactly why this change has been made — and how it benefits you.

1. You deserve my full attention — every time

Craftsmanship takes focus.

When a client arrives for a fitting, alteration, or consultation, they deserve my complete presence. Appointment-based sessions allow me to give each client uninterrupted time, without feeling rushed or distracted by unexpected walk-ins.

It means:

✨ Better fitting accuracy

✨ Clearer communication

✨ More space to explore style options

✨ A calmer, more enjoyable experience

This is tailoring done properly — the way it should feel.

2. Each project is unique, and good work takes planning

Whether it’s altering a suit, creating bespoke pieces, or styling someone for a life event, every job is different. Working by appointment lets me:

  • Prepare materials and tools in advance

  • Review your requirements before you arrive

  • Plan timings more accurately

  • Keep project turnaround smooth and reliable

This organisation ensures nothing is rushed and the final result is consistently high-standard.

3. A quieter studio supports craftsmanship — and my own wellbeing

As many of my customers already know, I run the studio on my own and I take great pride in every stitch. At the same time, managing a busy schedule alongside the challenges of a brain injury means I have to be realistic about how much I can handle without compromising quality.

The appointment-only model allows me to pace my days sensibly and maintain the level of craftsmanship Tailor & Chess is known for — without burning out or letting standards slip.

This isn’t about reducing service.

It’s about protecting quality and ensuring you always get my best work.

4. Faster turnaround times — not slower

A more organised diary means fewer bottlenecks.

By working in structured slots, I’m able to keep on top of:

  • Current orders

  • Alterations

  • Bespoke commissions

  • Urgent requests

  • Delivery times

The result? Quicker completion, less wait, and a more predictable timeline for your garments.

5. Dedicated walk-in times for convenience

I understand that some customers prefer popping in spontaneously — especially for simple jobs or quick questions. For that reason, walk-ins are still available twice a week:

🗓 Wednesdays & Saturdays

🕙 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM

This gives flexibility without disrupting booked fittings or sewing work.

6. A more professional, luxury service

Tailor & Chess has grown into a refined studio with a strong reputation for:

✔ bespoke tailoring

✔ detailed alterations

✔ personal service

✔ craftsmanship with character

Moving to an appointment-based system is a natural next step. It aligns the experience with the level of quality I’m committed to delivering — warm, personal, and crafted with intention.

Thank you for supporting Tailor & Chess

Your support means everything to me. This studio is built on trust, craft, and connection — and I’m constantly refining the way I work to make your experience even better.
